Named after Kokoro, the Yoruba word for the ant.
Small things carry the greatest power. The ant carries many times its weight and moves mountains when united. We build fine jewelry on that belief, so what you wear honors culture, holds meaning, and becomes part of your story.
Sculptural Fine Jewelry, Made With Intention
There is a moment, quiet and unmistakable, when you put on a piece of jewelry and feel something shift. Not in how you look, but in how you carry yourself. That is the moment Cocoerow was made for.
Founded by designer Christine Olowonira, we create heirloom pieces in gold, silver, platinum and carefully chosen gemstones, each designed with intention and made to be worn as a statement and kept as a treasure. Every piece is produced in limited runs, because fine jewelry should be rare, intentional, and worth having.
Christine Olowonira
A first-generation Nigerian-American artist and designer, Christine founded Cocoerow to bring cultural storytelling and contemporary design into one wearable form. Her background spans the ateliers of Valentino, Celine, Oscar de la Renta, and Loewe, and she serves on the University of Houston's Industry Advisory Board for Fashion and Luxury.
She begins each piece with meaning and lets the object follow, translating Yoruba heritage and personal narrative into sculptural jewelry.
Christine built Cocoerow to show that something extraordinary can rise from nothing, and to carry the stories of women from every walk of life - a quiet insistence that women who look like her belong not behind the scenes of luxury, but at its forefront. It is the same conviction the ant embodies: small, often overlooked, yet capable of carrying far more than its size suggests. A decade spent across storied fashion houses like Valentino, Celine, Oscar de la Renta, Rebecca Taylor, and Loewe gave her the operational eye to build it right.
Her work has been featured in National Jeweler, JCK, Only Natural Diamonds, Front Row Edit, Gems & Jewellery, and CultureMap Houston. Cocoerow has partnered with the James Beard Foundation's Good for Good auction and Action Against Hunger, extending a belief that luxury carries responsibility beyond beauty.
Small in form. Powerful in Impact.
Sculptural Fine Jewelry, Made With Intention
Every Cocoerow piece is solid 14k or 18k gold, platinum, silver, or natural stone, set with natural gemstones, and finished by hand in small numbers. Nothing is mass-produced, so what you buy holds its value and wears for a lifetime rather than a season. That is the difference between a piece you replace and one you pass down.
Each design is birthed from a story rooted in Yoruba heritage, one of beauty, culture, and longevity, a story we can all find ourselves in. That thought is what makes a piece worth keeping, and worth passing on.
Three Collections, Three Stories
The resilience of the ant and the impact small things create when united. The piece where the maison begins.v
The enduring strength and raw beauty of stone, texture and weight rendered in gold and natural gemstones.
The art of dining and the everyday, transformed into wearable luxury shaped by culture and gathering.
Conscious Luxury, Without Compromise
Mercury-free gold, ethical sourcing, and sustainable practice are not compromises, they are commitments. Select pieces within Kokoro use gold traceable to the individual miner who brought it from the earth, in partnership with artisanal miners in Peru's Madre de Dios.
